Do you feel like you are drowning?

So why don’t you matter?

This isn’t a comfortable question, but seriously.

There is an epidemic of women who put themselves last so that others can thrive.

This status quo is absolutely at our own expense.

It isn’t about being selfish, unthoughtful or less ambitious.

It’s about prioritizing ourselves.

I often hear you sharing that you feel like you are drowning or sinking.

Treading water fiercely, only to be able to come up for air, enough for a breath, then back down.  The weight of everything you have to do, pulling you back below the surface.

Drowing

It’s exhausting, I know.

Your calendar and to-dos are populated with everyone else’s priorities: your boss’, clients’, kids’, parent’s, etc…. but not yours.

You know that something needs to shift, but you haven’t made it happen yet, you don’t have time or the bandwidth.

I can relate, but I can’t just stand by and say ‘well, this is life and there’s not much that you can do.”

What I know about you is that you are doing your best, otherwise why would you be reading my blog?

That your life is full, no matter what your title, profession or how many kids you do or don’t have.

The epidemic lies in our inability to put ourselves up there with the things that matter. (Click to Tweet)

For some reason we lack a sense of urgency when it comes to taking care of what we need for ourselves.

Here are two questions to ignite your Urgency:

  1. What will your life feel like if nothing has changed one year from now?
  2. Do you have enough energy, strength or desire to continue to tread water, holding everyone else afloat?

I know it’s a cliché, but you only have this one life to live.  What are you waiting for?
